Money, Where Are You?

"I'm living so far beyond my income that we may almost be said to be living apart" (E.E. Cummings).

In this quote E.E. Cummings is telling the world that he has no money in a witty way. I am too close to being in the same situation. In about a year and a half I will be on my own, paying for my housing, college, and insurance. Not to mention food and water. Necessities will have to be put before wants. Even though I know how to be frugal, I can't live on my current income. Zero dollars can not get me anywhere. Now is a prominent time to save for the big changes in the future. However, I can't find a job. What scares me is not being moderately poor, which I know will inevitably happen, but being desperately poor and unable to have food or a place to live does.

Every year many senior students take the journey to college. Few of which can pay their way. Sure scholarships and loans help somewhat lower the cost. By somewhat I mean not enough at all. Nowadays almost all students can not achieve their dreams without college. Though when having to choose between having a career that may be enjoyable or working at the local gas station for a lifetime, most would choose the latter. Not to mention a career achieved by college would give more money in the long run. Though in the long run we will all be paying off the loans that college brought. Either way this generation will have a heavy weight on their shoulders caused by money. College tuition makes the whole process seem like a scam that young people have no choice but to get sucked into. With no money and almost no choices, I, as well as many others, feel trapped.

About Me

Hi, I'm Kayla Williams and this is my blog. I am a somewhat "normal" teenager who likes music, eating, and the Internet. I am a right brain thinker, hence the interest in music. Not just listening to music but actually playing instruments. A revolutionary process in this pop culture dominated world. I also believe in the power of the conscious and subconscious brain. Psychology is fascinating to me. So fascinating that it will definitely be apart of my future job. I truly am a geek of psychology like some people geek fan fiction. I believe in the power of food to make me happy. So I've recently been getting into cooking and baking. I'll make food for others if they ask nicely.
